Other Ways to Donate:
Returnable drink containers: We have an open account at Return It Bottle Depot at 3680 4th Ave Port Alberni. You can donate your returnables there and ask them to credit Bread of Life. Return it hours are Monday to Saturday 9-5. You can also drop off bags of returnables right here at the centre and one of our wonderful volunteers will take them in, sort them and have them added to our account. We will also supply bags and barcode tags for those of you who would like to use the easy drop off system the bottle depot Return-it Center now operates. Gift Cards: Gift cards come in really handy when we run low on supplies like hygiene items for hand out kits for our guests, sugar, tea, office supplies, and garbage bags. It's a great way to support The Bread of Life. Items for Silent Auctions: Two of our big fundraisers of each year involve silent auctions. The Alberni Valley Charity Golf Classic in July and the Bread of Life Harvest Dinner in October. Keep us in mind when you are purging, moving or after your garage sale. We are pretty open and creative when we are putting together our silent auction items! It's also great exposure for businesses and artisans who donate their wares or gift certificates. Hotel toiletries: Are you a traveller who hoards their hotels soaps and shampoos? It's okay - we've done it too. If you are finding you are not using them after all, we hand out a lot of hygiene kits and we are always in need of travel size shampoos, conditioners, lotion, deodorant, razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes. You can donate anytime during business hours and our guests really appreciate it! Winter Warm-ups: We take donations of new and gently used scarves, socks, knit hats, gloves and mittens and distribute them to our guests during the cold winter weather. Another much appreciated service and we will take donations anytime of year and store them until they are needed. Your Time and Skills: We are always looking for more volunteers and ideas! Visit our Volunteer page and let us know how you would like to contribute. |
